Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Diggidig — how it works, how to set it up, and what you get with a subscription.
Getting started
What is Diggidig?
Diggidig is a vinyl discovery tool for collectors, DJs and labels. It connects to Discogs and gives you a faster way to dig through new releases, listen to YouTube previews, manage your collection and wantlist, and discover records that match your taste.
Think of it as a layer on top of Discogs that focuses on listening, finding, and remembering — rather than buying or cataloguing.
Do I need a Discogs account?
Yes. Diggidig uses the Discogs API to find records, load your collection and wantlist, and access seller inventories. You'll need a free Discogs account and a Personal Access Token to sign up.
How do I create a Discogs Personal Access Token?
Go to discogs.com/settings/developers while logged in to Discogs. Scroll to "Personal Access Tokens" and click "Generate new token". Copy the token and paste it into Diggidig during signup.
Your token stays on your device and is never shared with anyone but Discogs.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every new account gets a 14-day free trial of Diggidig Pro with full access to all features. No credit card required to start.
Does Diggidig work on mobile?
Yes. Diggidig is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets and desktop. Some features like keyboard shortcuts are desktop-only, but every core feature is available on mobile.
Features
How does the Tips tab work?
Click the heart icon on any record or track you like. Diggidig analyses your likes — looking at styles, artists, labels, eras and producers — and recommends new records that match your taste.
The more you like, the smarter the recommendations get. After every new like the analysis refreshes automatically. You need at least 3 likes for the analysis to run.
What does "remove" do versus "skip"?
Remove (the X button on a record): permanently hides the record. It will never appear in any future search, seller browse or recommendation. You can find it back in the Archive tab and restore it if you change your mind.
Skip (the dash button on a record): temporarily hides the record for the current session only. Useful when something doesn't grab you right now but you might want to see it again later.
What is B2B comparison?
B2B (back-to-back) lets you compare your Discogs collection with another DJ's collection. Enter their username in the Collection tab and Diggidig instantly shows you which records you both have. Perfect for prepping a back-to-back set or finding common ground musically.
How does the Seller tab work?
Paste any Discogs seller's username and Diggidig browses their inventory. Filter by style, year range, price and minimum condition. Records you've already heard or removed are automatically hidden — so every seller feels fresh.
What does "Find similar" do?
Open any release and click "find similar" in the modal header. Diggidig pulls up to 12 records that resemble your seed by running three searches in parallel — on its label, its style and its main artist — and then ranks the results so the closest matches appear first.
Every result is itself a starting point: click any one of them and it becomes the new seed for the next dive. Built for endless digging from a single record.
Are the tags in the modal clickable?
Yes. When you open a release, the artist, label, genre, style, year and country chips under the cover are all clickable. Tap any of them and Diggidig switches to the Feed tab, fills in the matching filter, and starts a fresh search. A fast way to jump from one record into a wider dig on the same artist, label or year.
A "back" button appears above the feed after each chip-click, so you can return to your previous search at any time. Click multiple chips in a row and the back button steps you back through every search you made.
Where do I see my liked records?
In the Archive tab, switch from "Removed" to "Liked". You'll see every release you've liked, plus any release where you've liked individual tracks. Liked tracks are listed under each card so you can see at a glance which tracks you saved.
Click any card to open the release. Click the heart on a card to unlike the whole release; open the modal to unlike individual tracks.
Can I save my filters?
Yes. In the Feed sidebar, set up your filters (style, year, label, gems filter, etc.) and click "Save current as preset". Your preset is saved locally and you can load it again any time. Useful if you have favourite combinations like "deep house, 2002-2005, max 50 haves".
Can I add records to my Discogs wantlist from inside Diggidig?
Yes. Open any release and click "+ wantlist" in the modal header. Diggidig adds the record to your Discogs wantlist via the API. You can also bulk-export all your liked records to your wantlist from the Tips tab.
Why doesn't every record have a YouTube preview?
Diggidig pulls YouTube videos linked on the Discogs release page. Many releases have no videos linked — especially older or obscure records. Some embeds are blocked by the uploader; in that case you can still click the YouTube link to listen on YouTube.
Account and billing
What's the difference between trial and Pro?
The 14-day trial gives you full access to every feature. After the trial, a Pro subscription costs €4,99 per month and unlocks unlimited use. We may add free-tier limits in the future, but during early access everyone on a Pro plan keeps full access.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings (gear icon top-right), go to the Subscription tab and click "Manage subscription". This opens the Stripe customer portal where you can cancel any time. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Can I export my data?
Most of your data lives in your browser (likes, removed records, filter presets, recent searches) and can be exported via your browser's local storage. Your collection and wantlist live on Discogs and can always be exported from there.
For account-level data export, email info@diggidig.app.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings (gear icon top-right) and click "Delete my account" at the bottom. Your account is scheduled for deletion and all your data is removed within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
Technical and privacy
Where is my data stored?
Account info (email, name, Discogs username) is stored on Supabase. Your likes, removed records, filter presets and recent searches are stored in your browser's local storage and synced to Supabase so they follow you across devices.
Your Discogs token is also stored on Supabase so it works across all your devices when you log in. It is sent over an encrypted connection and only used to make Discogs API calls on your behalf. You can revoke it any time at discogs.com/settings/developers — the old token then becomes invalid everywhere, including in Diggidig.
Is my Discogs token safe?
Yes. Your token is stored encrypted on Supabase (West EU) so it works across your devices, and is only used to make Discogs API calls on your behalf. Diggidig never shares it with third parties. If you ever want to revoke it, generate a new token at discogs.com/settings/developers and the old one becomes invalid immediately. You can also clear it any time from the Settings screen in the app.
I'm getting "401 error" when loading records — what's wrong?
This means your Discogs token is invalid or has been revoked. Open Settings (gear icon), enter a fresh token from discogs.com/settings/developers and save. The error should go away.
Why is loading recommendations sometimes slow?
Diggidig respects the Discogs API rate limit (60 requests per minute). When you have many likes (50+), the analysis fetches detailed data for each release in batches and waits between them so we don't hit the limit. With around 100 likes the analysis takes about 30 to 45 seconds the first time.
